  • Annie Sloan Lacquer

Lacquer 1 Litre

£24.95

Chalk Paint Lacquer is water-based and recommended for surfaces such as painted floors, stairs and skirting boards

It is a robust, matt varnish with a very slight sheen for added strength

Designed to go over Chalk Paint™ for high use areas that need a hard wearing finish

It goes on perfectly clear and dries quickly

Use mild, soapy water to clean and avoid harsh chemicals

One very thin coat should be applied, making sure it goes on evenly and not overlapping to ensure a good finish is achieved

As a guideline we suggest this will cover approx 10 square metres per coat but this will vary according to the absorbency of the floor

Not suitable for areas of high water use such as bathrooms. Not suitable for outdoor use.

Choose from £5.00 for two working day or £6.50 for next working day delivery (Mon – Fri only) on all orders placed before 1pm . 1. Not good 1 Star Review

Bought this to seal my Victorian skirting Applied on top of two coats of Old White. What a mess.An unpleasant brown seeped through after the first coat, following the instructions on the tin.
Had to repaint with Old White again next day.
Reluctant to try again on another project.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always happy to talk through any problems with our customers to find out more details as there are so many variable factors involved.
It is often the surface itself that can display problems and we like to reassure our customers that it is often not a fault of the product and we will always offer help and advice on possible remedies.
It sounds like there could be something in the wood which is seeping through and staining the painted surface - these would need sealing with a knotting solution or something similar. The Annie Sloan lacquer can also be used if 'sandwiched' between two coats of paint as that can act to seal in stains. Simply apply another coat of paint over the painted and lacquered surface and lacquer again - ensuring it is applied thinly and evenly. If there are any further problems, please telephone us on 01780 752414. Many thanks

  2. Lacquering over white paint 2 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Mar 2016

I painted the downstairs loo floor with Annie Sloan white paint and then according to instructions painted it with 2 coats of Annie Sloan lacquer. It was diffucult to see where I had lacquered the floor so perhaps that is why there are a few brown stains and brown edges. Perhaps a coloured paint would have been better.
    Chalk Interiors:
If the lacquer is applied too thickly or it overlaps and is not applied evenly, it can 'yellow' slightly over white paint. Practising your technique of the application of the lacquer can ensure a better finish. Using a flat brush or a roller, apply in a well lit environment to ensure an even finish. It must be applied very thinly. If you are unhappy with the finish, you can paint over with the Chalk Paint with no need to sand or prime.

  3. Perfect for floor. 5 Star Review

Great product. I used two coats of chalk paint and followed with two coats of laquer for my bedroom floor. Probably would have got away with one but was too patchy. Two tips- one, use natural light to paint saves having to do extra coats!! Two, use a long handled pole and roller and paint whilst standing much easier and quicker.
